Vampire Weekend

Horchata by Vampire Weekend [lyrics]

Winter’s cold is too much to handle
Pincher crabs that pinch at your sandals
Here comes a feeling you thought you’d forgotten
Chairs to sit and sidewalks to walk on

Regina Spektor, “The Call”

I have just begun to work my magic
But it seems as though I’m lost at sea
Our hopes get bigger now with every hour
The tide is higher,
But it’s always just beyond my reach

I have just begun to write this chapter
Though it seems my hand is growing weak
If I could only keep the muses smiling
Never doubting,
I’d be waltzing on an endless dream

You’ve been asking a question, and it’s time someone told you you’ve been getting it wrong.

Yeah, I haven’t been a big Clara fan (Jenna is a great actress, the part just isn’t written well imo) but this episode and the 50th really warmed me up to her.  Like she was finally someone important in her own and not just the object of a quest.

I’ve been discerning religious life with a cloistered monastery for about a year and a half, and in about a week I’ll be on my way there to begin postulancy, so this blog is only going to be active for another week or so.  I’m not planning to delete it or anything, I’m just letting you all know (because we all know that Everyone Reads Text Posts) in case anyone would get worried that I’ve seemingly fallen off the face of the internet/earth.

also my former roommate has begun calling postulancy “nun school.”  Feel free to appropriate the term.

Possibly the best Christmas post I have ever seen on Tumblr

"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever."
Magnificat (Song of Mary), Luke 1:46-55 (via the-waiting-the-rejoicing)

I have a lot of cranky feelings about the DW Christmas Special.

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
John 1:14 (via interruptions)

Is it too early to start reblogging this or?

I feel the need to point out once again this year that he is wearing TWO pairs of antlers. He is the best and I love him.

"In the tender compassion of our God
The dawn from on high shall break upon us,
To shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death,
And to guide our feet into the way of peace."
From Chapter 1 of Luke’s Gospel and from Lauds every morning. (via laudsandvespers)

I’m currently waffling between “yay it’s almost Christmas!” and “how on God’s green earth did it get to be Christmas already?” The first involves running around the house singing Christmas carols, the second involves sitting in front of tumblr looking at seasonal gifs and internally screaming.

cinnamon praline nuts are in the oven

it’s beginning to smell a lot like Christmas!
